Army Jawan Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In Jammu And Kashmir’s Udhampur

An Army jawan was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur on Thursday. The army has launched a major cordon and search operation in the valley after a terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam claimed 26 lives.

Havaldar Jhantu Ali Shaikh of 6 PARA SF was killed in action during one such search opertaion.

The Army launched a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Basantgarh and established contact with militants. “One of our bravehearts sustained grievous injuries in the initial exchange and later succumbed,” the White Knight Corps said in a post on X.

Security forces have launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday, officials said. The firing took place in Dudu-Basantgarh area during a cordon and search operation which was launched based on information about the presence of terrorists, they said.

On Wednesday, two terrorists were killed as an infiltration bid was foiled along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

“On 23 Apr 2025, approximately 2-3 UI terrorists tried to infiltrate through the general area Sarjeevan at Uri Nala, Baramulla (in north Kashmir),” the Chinar Corps posted on X around 8 am. It later shared that the two terrorists had been killed.

“A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores have been recovered from the terrorists,” the Chinar Corps said.
