10 Killed In Massive Blast At Telangana Chemical Factory; Rescue Ops Underway

At least 10 workers were killed and several others injured in a devastating explosion at Sigachi Industries Pvt Ltd, a chemical manufacturing unit located in Pashamylaram, Telangana, on Monday morning, according to media reports.
The blast, which occurred around 9:30 a.m., triggered a large fire and caused the industrial structure to collapse, trapping multiple workers under the debris. Fire department officials confirmed that five bodies have been recovered from the rubble so far, while efforts continue to locate any survivors.
Authorities received the fire alert at 9:37 a.m., prompting a large-scale emergency response. A total of 11 fire engines from various stations—including Patancheru, Sangareddy, Kukatpally, Madhapur, Jeedimetla, and Rajendranagar—were deployed to the site. In addition, firefighting robots, disaster response teams, and specialised rescue units were pressed into service to bring the flames under control and assist in search operations.
The industrial belt of Sangareddy and Pashamylaram has seen multiple such accidents in recent years. In a previous incident at a Sangareddy pharmaceutical facility, six workers lost their lives and 14 were injured. Another blast in Pashamylaram in 2023 claimed the lives of three workers.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep grief over the tragedy and directed officials to prioritise rescue and relief efforts. “Take all necessary steps to rescue any workers still trapped and ensure the injured receive proper treatment,” he instructed.
Rescue operations were ongoing at the time of this report, and authorities have not yet released a confirmed count of casualties. Investigations into the cause of the reactor blast are expected to follow once emergency operations conclude.
