MP Cabinet Expansion: Prahlad Patel, Kailash Vijayvargiya Among 28 MLAs Sworn In As Ministers

Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel on Monday administered the oath of office to the new ministers as part of the expansion of the state cabinet. MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the two Deputy CMs, Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda were also present on the occasion. Former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also attended the event.

A total of 28 BJP leaders have been inducted into the Madhya Pradesh cabinet. 18 leaders including Pradhuman Singh Tomar, Prahlad Singh Patel, Kailash Vijayvargiya, and Vishwas Sarang have taken oath as cabinet ministers. Six leaders have been sworn in as Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and four leaders as state Ministers.

Notably, several prominent names from the previous Shivraj Singh-led government have not been included in the new cabinet. Ministers from the Shivraj government, including Bhupendra Singh, Gopal Bhargav, Visahu Lal Singh, Meena Singh, Usha Thakur, Brajendra Singh Yadav, Brajendra Pratap Singh, and Hardeep Singh Dang, were not included in the new cabinet.

Former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed optimism about the Mohan Yadav-led cabinet saying that Madhya Pradesh is fortunate to have a new government taking shape on Atal Ji’s birthday. He emphasised that the cabinet includes experienced senior politicians and youthful enthusiasm, ensuring a well-balanced approach that considers regional needs.

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, CM Mohan Yadav met the governor and said that the new cabinet will work for the betterment of the state under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders.

“The new cabinet will work for the betterment of the state under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party president J P Nadda and state party chief VD Sharma,” said the CM, who met Nadda in New Delhi on Sunday evening.

The maximum strength of council of ministers in Madhya Pradesh, which elects 230 legislators, is 35 including the chief minister.

CM Yadav, and his deputies, Shukla and Devda were sworn-in for their respective offices on December 13.

The Bharatiya Janata Party retained its rule in MP during the state assembly elections held last month, sweeping victory on 163 seats while limiting the Congress on 66.
