Ex-chief justice is Imran Khan’s pick for caretaker PM; SC to resume hearing today | Top points

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday proposed the name of former Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed as the caretaker PM.

This follows after Pakistan President Alvi issued an order de-notifying Imran Khan as the prime minister of the country with immediate effect on Sunday night. However, President Alvi issued another order later, asking Imran Khan to continue as interim prime minister until a “caretaker prime minister” is chosen under Article 224 A of Pakistan’s constitution.

On Monday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced that Imran Khan has nominated former CJP as caretaker PM.

In response to the President’s letter, after consultation and approval from the PTI Corps Committee, Prime Minister Imran Khan has nominated former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed for the post of caretaker Prime Minister,” PTI tweeted.
